Photo requirements

What every marketplace actually requires for vehicle photos.

Every marketplace publishes different photo rules — when it publishes any at all. Here is each one’s own published spec, linked to its help page, and exactly where they disagree, including with themselves. Pick a marketplace below for the full breakdown.

Pick a marketplace

The full breakdown, one marketplace at a time.

Side by side

No single marketplace publishes this table.

Every value below matches that marketplace’s own spec on its dedicated page. Follow the link for the full source.

Reflects each marketplace’s own published guidance as of 2026-07-25. “Not published” means we don’t list a figure for it; check that marketplace’s help pages before you shoot. See each marketplace’s page for the full spec.

Where marketplaces disagree

The same photo, three different answers.

These aren’t typos — every source below is a marketplace’s own currently-published page. We show both sides rather than pick a winner for you.

Maximum file size — three sister sites, three different numbers

Cycle Trader, Equipment Trader and RV Trader are all owned by Trader Interactive and share a package-tier structure, but each brand's help center documents a different photo file-size ceiling.

Equipment Trader100 KB or lesssize the image so that it is no more than 100 KBSource
RV Trader5 MB or less“sized to no more than 5mb (megabytes)”Source

Boat Trader disagrees with itself

A legacy Boat Trader help article and Boat Trader's own 2026 research guide are both live on boattrader.com at the same time, with very different numbers.

Minimum resolution — small on purpose vs. large on purpose

Autotrader's published spec caps photos at a small size built for older listing software; eBay Motors sets a floor on the opposite end and accepts far larger files.

eBay Motors500 px minimum on the long side, up to 7 MB via the uploader“eBay requires a minimum of 500 pixels for an image's longest side”Source

Not built — and why

Two marketplaces we didn’t give their own page.

We only ship a page when we can back every number on it. These two didn’t clear that bar, so here’s what each one does publish instead of a thin page padded with guesses.

Facebook Marketplace

Not published by Meta. Its Help Center page does not show photo specs we could confirm, so we don't list any.

Vehicle listings from partner catalogs: Discontinued“Vehicle and home listings from partner catalogues discontinued on Facebook Marketplace”SourceThis is the title of Meta's help page. Dealer Business Pages can no longer post vehicle inventory directly through a partner catalog.

Machinery Trader

Only one figure appears on its own page; everything else (minimum count, file size, resolution, format, watermark policy, stock-photo policy) is unpublished. A page built on one number would have to pad itself out with generic advice, so it stays a comparison-index row instead.

Machinery Trader is owned by Sandhills Global — a different company from Trader Interactive, despite the shared ‘___ Trader’ naming shared with RV Trader, Cycle Trader and Equipment Trader.

Photos and videos per listing: Up to 40“Submit up to 40 high-resolution asset photos and videos.”Source
