How to export your photos from CarBG (and move to VehiclePhoto)

Download stored images before their published window expires, save every API result as a real file, and preserve the originals you own. CarBG documents binary image output from its studio API while Car Background AI publishes a ninety-day storage limit for images and processed outputs.

Ownership

What you own

“You retain all rights to the images and content you upload.”
Read the published terms

The public terms establish rights in uploaded images. They do not mention processed output, so ask for that point in writing before depending on edited results after cancellation. Keep originals separate regardless of the answer.

Export

Get your images

CarBG’s studio API returns binary image data, which must be saved by the calling system, and its privacy policy says stored originals and processed outputs remain available for downloads and quality review for up to ninety days. Act before automatic deletion.

  1. Save the API result. When the CarBG studio API returns binary image data, write that response to a durable image file and associate it with the source vehicle. Confirm the saved file opens before discarding the response or moving to another result. Source
  2. Beat the storage window. Download stored images and processed outputs before the up-to-ninety-day period ends. The published policy says those files are automatically deleted after that window, so do not schedule the archive for the last day. Source

Move into VehiclePhoto

A binary API response is useful only after it becomes a named, backed-up file. Pair that file with the source photograph, record which result was approved, and isolate anything whose extension or encoding is unclear. Upload a varied subset to VehiclePhoto before committing the remaining archive.

  1. Bulk uploader. Open a listing, then drag and drop the image set into the bulk uploader. Individual images and folders can enter together, and the original files remain untouched.
  2. ZIP uploader. Choose a ZIP archive when the export arrives as one package. The uploader expands supported image files so you can check the listing before processing begins.
  3. REST API v1 ingest. For files already hosted at HTTPS URLs, send each URL to /api/v1/ingest with a REST API v1 key instead of downloading and uploading it by hand.
  4. Phone-capture QR handoff. When a missing angle needs a new photo, open phone capture on a computer and scan its QR handoff. The phone adds that image to the same work without a separate app.

Migration boundary

What carries over

Nothing automatic — there is no CarBG connector. Saved originals and output files can move, but API requests, review state, storage timers, account configuration, and previous processing choices do not. Build a fresh VehiclePhoto brand setup and retain the former result as a visual reference.

Final check

Before you cancel

  • Work from oldest material first. Car Background AI says images and processed outputs are stored for up to ninety days for downloads and quality review, then automatically deleted. Source
  • If the account itself is deleted, the policy says data will be erased or anonymized within ninety days except where billing or legal needs apply. Export before making that request. Source
  • Confirm processed-output rights with support. The published ownership clause covers uploaded images and content and does not mention the generated result. Source
  • Validate every API-created file with an image viewer and retain its content type, extension, and vehicle identifier. A byte response without dependable metadata becomes difficult to audit later.
  • Use the VehiclePhoto pilot to compare tight crops, transparent edges, branding, and privacy blur. Keep the first run small enough that any revised choice can be applied without reorganizing the full library.

FAQ

Questions

How long does CarBG store images?

The cited privacy policy says images and processed outputs are stored for up to ninety days to allow downloads and quality review, then automatically deleted. Treat that as an outer limit and complete the archive earlier.

What does the API return?

CarBG’s studio API page describes binary image data. Your integration must save those bytes as an image file, attach a stable vehicle identifier, and verify that the resulting file opens at the expected quality.

Do I own every output?

Car Background AI’s terms say you retain rights to uploaded images and content. That clause does not mention processed output, so obtain confirmation and preserve that response with the exported results.
